Astringent, bitter, soothing aroma.
Musk (Latin muscus; Sanskrit muskas - scrotum, testicle) - this is the name of a group of chemical ingredients of animal, vegetable or synthetic nature, which allow combining a variety of notes and nuances of smells into a harmonious whole composition. Musk is not only a scent substance, but also a fixative that retains fragrant ingredients of a different nature, preventing them from evaporating and volatilizing too quickly.
For a long time in perfumery, the only source of musk was the secret secreted by the glands of animals of some artiodactyls and rodents, and the main source of musk extraction was the male Siberian musk deer (Moschus moschiferus), a small artiodactyl deer-like animal, a member of the musk deer family.
The gland in the groin of the animal produces a special secret that releases pheromones into the environment. The animal attracts the female to itself. The musky aroma has been known since ancient times, observations have shown that when heated and increased humidity, this aroma is enhanced. Some researchers claim that the musk deer pheromone is a powerful aphrodisiac, and the smell of animal secretory musk resembles the smell of the human hormone testosterone. In many countries, the extraction of natural musk from the secret of musk deer is associated with the killing of this species of animals, and therefore is completely prohibited.
Until the end of the 19th century, only animal musk was used in medicine and perfumery, until the English chemist Albert Hauer accidentally discovered synthetic musk. However, synthetic musk has not been recommended for production and use since the 1980s due to its carcinogenicity, and the quality of the scent itself left much to be desired. Therefore, the most 'correct' musk in our time, which can be found in expensive perfumes and incense, is vegetable musk.
Vegetable musky substances are not plentiful. These include essential oils. Extracted from Angelica (Archangelica officinalis or Angelica Archangelica L) and Muscat Abelmosh (Abelmoluschus Moschatus, synonymous with Hibibus abelmoschus). Musk lactones have also been found in orchid scent.
The Morning Star series of Japanese incense is a set of 21 fragrances of the highest quality. They are known all over the world for their special production technology and the absence of a bamboo stick-base, which makes the evaporating aroma pure. Thus, they are also suitable for those who do not like smoke. The variety of scents can find many uses in the home, on vacation, in the store, in the cosmetics industry (spa), in the practice of meditation. Their scent changes the atmosphere and induces relaxation and tranquility. Warm aromas (cinnamon, musk) will warm you on winter evenings, and fresh aromas (yuzu, mimosas) will bring coolness on a hot summer day. Nippon Kodo incense is subject to strict quality control during the production process and meets Japanese and European standards.
